Journalists Against AIDS (JAAIDS) Nigeria is a media-based non-governmental organization dedicated to combating HIV/AIDS through innovative communication strategies and capacity-building initiatives. Our mission is to contribute to the prevention, care, and control of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria by providing communication interventions that facilitate positive behavior change and reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Our Core Areas of Focus
- Information Dissemination: We provide communication support and resources to enhance the national and global response to HIV/AIDS. Our projects are designed to facilitate access to information, services, and facilities related to health and HIV, empowering individuals to make informed decisions.
- Media Monitoring Service: We analyze media coverage of HIV/AIDS to provide feedback and promote effective reporting on the epidemic.
- Capacity Building: We conduct skills acquisition and capacity-building training for media professionals and other stakeholders, enhancing their ability to effectively engage in HIV/AIDS prevention and advocacy.
- Media Resource Centre: Our center offers a wealth of publications and resources on HIV/AIDS and reproductive health, serving as a hub for researchers, journalists, and program managers.
Strategic Engagement: We engage with policymakers, healthcare providers, and community leaders to influence policies that ensure accessible and equitable healthcare services, aligning with the needs of the population.
Direct Intervention: We offer support services, including counseling and community mobilization, to bridge gaps in healthcare access and provide sustainable solutions for underserved populations.
